Getting Healthy and Fit

I've lost around 15 lbs to date. I feel healthy, I'm less anxious, sleep better, and have more energy. I've started running again, although not as often as I would like - we are still getting out. I'm ready to focus my attention on business ideas and making money on the side. I've been working on some ideas, but I need to sit down and flush some things out. I really wish that something comes up that I can do.. I need to be able to sustain myself if I leave my job. I would love to head to an island somewhere and open up a business - its a fantasy right now, but hopefully with some luck and perseverance, it can be a reality.

Happy new year and the start of something good

Yesterday, as I went to sleep at 3am, I decided that I needed to change my life for good because if I am going to make it, things need to be different. I need to take care of my health... my mental health and physical health have been impacted by negative life choices. Went for a walk today with the pugs, and they totally loved it. The weather is gorgeous for the 2nd of January...

My Running

I started tracking my running back in NYC in July 2012 and feel I've come so far since that first 15 min run ( see photo from the app Runkeeper)

Since then I've done two 5k, 4 Half Marathons, and about ready to prepare for a full marathon in October. I've signed up for the RBC run for the kids in September as part of the training plan. My most recent visit to NYC I did manage to run the entire park, very good feeling!

If I can do it, anyone can! Get out there and run!

Where Has The Time Gone?

Here we are, nearing the end of February, a rather cold and snowy year so far - the summer can't get here quick enough. I've got my travel plans for the first half of the year planned. School until mid-April, hoping I pass everything and then I can enjoy the summer, stress free! Signed up for the Good Life Half in May, I need to do better than my last one (2:43), but running outdoors has been a challenge. I am not comfortable with running in snow and slush for fears of twisting my ankle. Thankfully, I have discovered yoga and using other machines in the gym.

Its almost moving day for the other half, and I think things will change once he's completely moved in. If not, then I will have a miserable year. I'll have to wait and see what happens. If Valentine's Day is any indicator... my life is over.

It's already June!

The year is almost half way through, and I could say that its been a pretty lousy one so far, but I won't. I completed my half marathon in 2:29:00, which wasn't my expected time, but I finished feeling really good and in no pain. Plugging away with school work and the practicum which should be taking up all of my time - but I'm not focused enough. I have three months to do the paper. I need to get cracking.

Happy 2013 ~ this is my year!

Happy New Year!

I am happy that it is 2013! I am well on my way to this being my year for successes. I just need to stay focused and get rid of the distractions that will pull me down. Did my resolution run on New Years Eve, in 31 mins, which is really good. Now I start training for the Good Life Half Marathon in April. I plan on doing a few 5 and 10K's this year, with the other half marathon in September. I'm not ready for anything more. Still working on my fitness levels and losing a few more pounds. Less travel this year because that is what kills me  - no proper fitness and nutrition plans in place. No more excuses!

Fitness and Healthy Eating

Since Mid-April, I've been exercising and eating healthy all in the pursuit of losing weight and getting healthy. Since April, I've lost about 26 lbs, and maybe about 13% body fat. I now run and hit the gym daily. I recently participated in the Scotiabank's Toronto Waterfront Marathon, well the 5K run. It rainned for the whole run, which really sucked, because by the time I hit the finish line (31mins, chip; 39 official) I was drenched and cold. I picked my medal up and headed to my car to warm up and dry off. Needless to say, I felt I could have ran further, so I signed up for a half marathon at the Downsview Air Force Base, on November 11/12. I am looking forward to the long haul and I am hoping that it isn't snowing or raining because that would just suck for me.
